In 2013, the Parish Council was informally approached by two separate developers showing an interest in developing two sites in Ollerton: the Grouse Farm site near to the Dun Cow and the nursery site presently operating as Ollerton Nurseries. Presentations were made at an Open Meeting in May 2013, attended by over 70 residents and as a result, the Parish Council agreed to seek the views of the whole community by means of a questionnaire.

The survey concluded that the majority of the population supports the protection of the greenbelt and are not in support of additional development.

For your infromation the Parish Council has published the original survey request sent to each household in October 2013 and the full survey results which were published in January 2014.

Since then, there have been a number of further enquiries and sumbitted plans for development in the area and the Parish Council is currently in the process of working with the community to develop a Neighbourhood Plan.

Because it is so important to first seek the opinion of the local parish residents as part of the Neighbourhood Plan community engagement, the overwhelming majority of members of the Parish Council feel that it is not appropriate to support any significant development in the parish at this time. The Parish Council’s response to applications such as the one at Ollerton Nursery includes reference to this ongoing Neighbourhood Plan process amongst its grounds for objection. The Parish Council’s future perspective is not predetermined however and its response to applications in years to come will be based on the community’s views as set out in the published plan.
